What the Application Tracker Does
The application tracker is where you manage every school you have actually applied to. It is separate from your favorites list — favorites are for exploring; the tracker is for executing. Once you submit an application, add it here.
Adding and Managing Applications
From the Applications page, click "Add Application" and select a school. For each application, you can track:
- Status — Not yet applied, Applied, Under Review, Interview Invited, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected, Withdrawn, Deferred
- Dates — When you applied, when you received each status update
- Scholarships — Amount offered, if applicable
- Notes — Anything you want to remember about this application
Calendar Sync
The tracker generates an iCal feed you can subscribe to in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook. It automatically includes your application deadlines and any scheduled interview dates. The calendar updates live — when you change a date in the tracker, it shows up in your calendar without re-subscribing.
You will find the calendar subscription link on the Applications page under the settings icon.
How the Tracker Connects to Community Data
This is important: if you have community sharing enabled on your profile, your application outcomes (accepted, waitlisted, rejected) automatically flow into the community data pool. This is the give-to-get model — your outcomes help other applicants, and their outcomes help you.
The sync happens automatically. You do not need to submit reports manually. When you change an application status to accepted, waitlisted, or rejected, an anonymous outcome report is created with your GPA and test score. If you revert the status or delete the application, the report is removed.
Tips
- Update statuses promptly — The community data is only useful if it is current. When you hear back from a school, update the tracker right away.
- Use the notes field — Record interview questions, financial aid conversations, scholarship negotiation details. Your future self will thank you.
- Track scholarships accurately — The ROI calculator can pull scholarship data from your tracker to give you more accurate cost projections.
